Uncle Andy

A tasteful fantasy campaign setting three decades in the making…

DrakenStone Castle is the brainchild of yours truly, Andy Schiller (aka “Uncle Andy” to his nephews!). As an old-school DM, I’ve written and run many campaigns since the days of the good ol’ Red Box my brother got for Christmas in 1982. I’ve spent decades detailing my Realms of Edeos. My favorite aspects of gaming are role-play, storytelling, complex plots, puzzles, character development. And I write adventure paths that take PCs from level 1 all the way to retirement.

Like you, my players come to the table expecting flavor in their fantasy setting. I’m sure you’ve tried some pre-packaged adventures and found them stale and bland. Then you’ve spent hours grinding, adding spice to give them your own personal sweetness.

And now you’re looking for ready-to-serve modules, with maps and stats. You’re also hungry for no-set-up adventures with a truly compelling hook and level of detail. I invite you to take a taste of DrakenStone’s adventures. Each one has been play-tested and has a week-by-week blog of actual characters playing the game.

I like to build 3D terrain for my adventures. And lots of it! And craft some of the monsters by hand.

The Realms of Edeos started as a spark in the imagination of co-creators Josh Robillard and Andy Schiller. Playing D&D first edition in the early 80s, the pair developed a village in which to base their adventures. They quickly drew pictures and maps of magic shops, inns, taverns, townsfolk, legends, and so on. Soon, the village was not enough. A map of the continent was drawn, and the story and history of each country followed… we designed many realms, but the central area where level 1 PCs emerge is DrakenStone Castle.

As the pair developed an intricate backstory and interweaving plotlines for the cultures and leaders, the concept of a planet made from a giant dragon egg emerged. Prophecies foretell the end of days, when the dragon egg will hatch, destroying the world. However, one group of clerics predict that it is the world’s re-birth, and it is only the beginning…

Other planets in this solar system are dragon eggs as well. Magical teleportation circles known as “ladders” exist to travel between the realms, but knowledge of such rare magic is restricted to those in the highest levels of the Order.

Edeos is a world of medieval societies, political intrigue, ancient cultures, post-apocolyptic lands, felines, animal races, high magic, elemental divinity, and breathtaking landscapes… A dozen published adventures await your party, written in both D&D 4th and 5th Editions (online downloads available for Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, and other D&D editions.) One storyline takes your characters from level 1 to level 30. And we use Old School house rules. And when we say Old School, we mean it! “1″ is always a fumble. Firing arrows into melee could potentially harm your allies if you miss your target. And, for Pete’s sake, NO! YOU CAN’T FIRE ARROWS WHILE SWIMMING!!!
